- 2000 additional RSE workers to enter New Zealand early next year
- Employers must pay these workers at least $22.10 an hour
- Employers will cover costs of managed isolation for the RSE workers
- RSE workers will be paid the equivalent of 30 hours work a week while in isolation
At this stage, we do not know how the allocation will be managed.
We are still discussing with the Government how these workers will be chosen and how they will be allocated.
We are likely to survey growers early next week. This will be an opportunity for growers to spell out what their needs are and when they need workers.
This information will be provided to the Government.
We know this is an uncertain and stressful time for growers. HortNZ is working with other groups like NZ Apples and Pears and NZ Kiwifruit Growers Incorporated to ensure as many growers as possible benefit from the Government’s decision.
